Needlework is a broad term for the handicrafts of decorative sewing and textile arts. Anything that uses a needle for construction can be called needlework. The definition may expand to include related textile crafts such as a crochet hook or tatting shuttles. Similar abilities often transfer well between different varieties of needlework, such as fine motor skill and a knowledge of textile fibers. Some of the same tools may be used in several different varieties of needlework. For instance, a needle threader is useful in nearly all needlecrafts. Types of needlework

I am looking for a knitted hat pattern. It was made of worsted yarn, size 10 or 10 1/2 dp needles, knitted in a tube and then one end pushed inside the other. It is the warmest hat I've ever made, but cannot find the pattern I had. Asked by elpr32 - Sat Dec 6 07:45:17 2008 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments A. You don't need a pattern for that...you've already given the instructions in your question!! That's exactly what you do... Just knit round and round in a tube... and then fold it inside the other end. You can do it in plain stitch or in 1/1 ribbing. There are some patterns like this on the net.. just google for it. Take any hat pattern, and knit it twice.. from the fold, and there you have it. Make either end in different colours, and you can wear them either way! Q. I'm an avid cross stitcher and was wondering what the best lighting is. I need a very bright, close light to distinguish between similar colors. Thanks! Asked by mrseisenreich - Fri Jan 19 13:27:40 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. For needlework one needs a lot of illumination on the order of 50-60 Footcandles. If you are elderly than more than that. For color, be sure the light has a clear path to what you are viewing and is not filtered or reflected off of a lamp shade or wall that has some color to it. That will 'alter' the way the light renders certain colors. Ideally you would have two light sources, one to either side of you to fill in any shadowing caused by your hands. A standard desk lamp with an adjustable arm will typical take a standard 'bulb'. I would replace this with a 60-watt PAR20 Halogen Medium-Flood lamp. These typically available at home depot and labeled as 'Track Lights'. Going to this other lamp will probably give you twice as much light as… [cont.] Answered by Dru - Mon Jan 22 17:07:04 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Needlework" From Wikiquote under the GNU Free Documentation License.
