quilt donations to kids charities within Australia?
Q. I know about Linus project , I've already given them some quilts but want to help out another charity as well. I called Angel flight but was told they no longer accept quilts. These are small children's quilts plus one for an older child or teen.

A. If you can't find anything in Australia, try St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis Tenn. in USA. You might just make a great partnership and start something there.

i am sewing a quilt and binding the edges but there is one problem it has inward and outward angels on edges?
Q. i need help with the iverted right angels in the binding of the quilt i have looked on the net and cant find anything close to what i need help with...

A. You will need to sew the binding on with a consistent 1/4 inch on inside and outside angles to avoid problems. Best way to do this is to mark your 1/4" intersections where you'll need to turn the binding and do not over-stitch into the seam allowance. I've pasted some links for you below that show how binding is attached to right angles, but the principle is the same with other angles.

Do the veterans at VA hospitals like visitors?
Q. I belong to Soldier's angels and was going to visit a VA hospital where I live and take them in cookies. Would they allow them to have them and would the soldiers appreciate visits from a stranger? I worked in the medical area for over 20 years and know alot of them are probably pretty sick and wondered if this would be appropriate. We were actually asked to visit them and maybe take a lap quilt we'd made. Any answers appreciated. Thank you all for your kindness. There really isn't alot of love in this world anymore is there?

A. I think that as a general rule, they would LOVE a visitor. Someone that they could just talk to and break the routine and/or monotony that goes with being laid up in the hospital. They gave up a lot and put themselves in harms way, and didn't ask for anything in return. I think it's great that people are willing to take the time to brighten their day. God bless you, you're a kind spirit.

Do you think some of the tricks done by Criss Angel are done in front of actors?
Q. For instance, the trick he does where he covers himself with a towel or quilt then disapears into thin air. There is no concievable (sorry, i am a bad speller) way that this could be done without a camera trick and actors being present so they act like he really disapeared when in reality they just stopped the camera and he walked off screen then they started the camera again. Your thoughts?? Venus-- this question is not about the slide of hand tricks its about the larger ones like when he disapears behind a sheet. Most of the slide of hand tricks and other small tricks it is very easy to figure out how they are done. For instance he did a trick yesterday where he handed a girl a sealed envelope with a location written on it. Then he… [cont.]

A. As these kinds of illusions are based on mastering lies and deception there is no reason to beleive him when he says he isn't using plants and stooges. I've seen footage on you tube explaining how film has been edited and not the 'one take, unedited' takes he claims. There is also footage explaining how the trick you describe is performed. In short I think virtually all of the tricks are done in front of people in on it.

Nursery Ideas?
Q. My little girl will be born in about two months. Our nursery isn't done yet! We have a four bedroom house and my gf and I want to have the smallest room be just a nursery, for a long time, until we're done having kids. I want something simple and not too flashy, just comfortable my baby to be in. Here are some ideas. Please choose which one would best suit my little Vivianne Riley. 1. 2. my favorite... 3. Please have more suggestions! It is supposed to be pronounced (Vivi-Yon) sort of french like. but my wife's family says (vivi-anne) like how it's spelled.

A. Since you have a really cute name picked out, how about a personalized sign for the nursery that accents the decor? They have nice ones at The artist is a mom.

What's your favorite type of toilet paper?
Q. Mine is Quilted Northern. I didn't realize how much I appreciated it until today. I bought some other kind, Angel Soft I think, because it was on sale a few weeks ago. Now that I've switched back I realized how nice it is. Which do you like?

Q. like a baby cot quilt not a proper thick duvet. something like this i know guidelines say 12 months but i used one on my daughters cot last night (she is nearly 10 months and has a cold and couldnt keep herself warm) and she slept right through the night which she hasnt done since she was about 4 months old. i was just wondering about your experiences. also with regards to cot death i have an angel care monitor (that an alarm goes off it baby stops breathing) i know this isnt a complete assurance but peace of mind at least. thanks

About this dream I've been having..?
Q. I keep having this epic dream about a demon that looks like a 17 year old boy. With his brother John, and his sister Angelique. His name is Ravensteque, and he makes quilts that allow demons to pass over into the human plane. He falls in love with a fallen angel by the name of Giselle. Different story lines, always the same characters. Ravensteque is a timid/shy being. Everytime he is touched he whimpers and cringes and covers his head with his arms. He wears eyeliner, although without it he already looks like he has it on. He has this baggy rainbow sweater, with only three colours, a yellow, a gross green, and a brown. I dunno why I just told you about him. But I can't seem to stop thinking about the dream. I'm sure it means… [cont.]

A. First of all, that's a super cool dream! I hope you're having fun with it. Now for the interpretation. I believe all the characters in your dream probably represent some part of yourself. (One thing I'm not sure of is if you see these characters as evil. You say they are demons, but I know that in some stories there are good demons. I'll assume that you don't see them as evil.) So, Ravensteque is creative, helpful, and shy. He is, perhaps, your dream alter-ego. His epic adventures across the nights will mirror what you are dealing with in your day to day life and give you insights into your true feelings. His sweater represents a kind of innocence or immaturity. I think the colors are a representation of his (and maybe your)… [cont.]

I wrote this song for my friend, whose parents died in the 9/11 attacks. Should I put it to music for her?
Q. Its called "A Meloncholy Yuletide" Winter brings me back to the cradle where I lay In the dream-weaver's quilt I'm nestled for dawn Snow is falling, sweeter silence in the grave where I lay For another dreamless night I sleep with open eyes I cannot dream I cannot cry For love-maker's lullaby I cannot wish I cannot sing For the angel shoulder died Bring me home to save a life Before the angel spreads her wings And takes to the skies again Taking everything I ever loved A child's joy withers on the eve of Yuletide Wishes upon a star to dream no more Never held again by the love of a mother Standing silent before her grave Memories and agonies melt over the cracked heart Closure filling the void but never again the same I cannot dream I… [cont.]

I have watched old people die, why do they want to hang on to life to the very last breath?
Q. They keep fight for just one more breath, why? Me I cant wait to get to the Pearly Gate and get my pot of gold God promised us all if we would be good. Then just inside of heaven is the never ending shopping mall. You even have angels to go along with you and push your shopping cart. and you can send an angel back for seconds on the pot of gold if you like. You know In my dreams I never see any of those old people in the heavenly shopping mall. I only see young happy people. Where do they send all the old people to quilting bees or where?
